08 May Rock and Drum from the surf

It is trophy rockfish season in Virginia from May 1st -15th. During this time they raise the limit to 36″ for the length of a striped bass to be a keeper. This is when they run in the surf though, so you have to try!
I always hit the beach at low water, fish the first of incoming. Try to time that in morning or evening and it should be productive.
We caught 5 rockfish and 5 black drum this trip. Also caught 2 dogfish and 2 stingrays. I cleaned one of the dogfish, they are good to eat (called steakfish)
